Me Oh My...

I don't even know how to start this post...

So much has been going on..i mean SO much, it's silly really that I have not posted anything about it. Not that anyone in the world cares about my random internet rants on my home and family life, but on a personal level, I feel like so many things should be documented.

I stare at recent pictures, and long to write down the explanations behind them, the memories that came with them, the stories behind the laughter or the look..whether anybody reads this blog or not, for my own personal well-being I really do appreciate documenting my life experiences.

Ellie has a strange fetish-one I am not proud of nor do I endorse, by any stretch of the imagination. Ellie really just likes to play with poop.

There. I said it. Poop.

We have cleaned up...NUMEROUS amount of potty, and not just in the diaper. Oh no friends. Potty that has been taken OUT of the diaper, that she continually wants off, spread on her face like Indian war paint, on the walls like finger paint and all over the crib like a new bedspread.

Where did this come from!?!??!!? And how do I fix it?
I mean honestly it happens almost once a week. I guess sometimes it is my fault because I forget to put the onesie on, WITH the pants. She takes her pants off in bed at all hours and just...

plays with it.

This was her shortly after an "incident" the other day. My little poop fairy. Happy as can be. In her own little world, unaware of the damage that has been done both physically, and emotionally -to her mother.

Is it strange that I took pictures of this situation? Sure. I'll admit it. But c'mon! When it happens as often as it does over here, something needs to be remembered. There are a plethera of photos that are just not internet worthy-for my eyes only, and I won't even get into the mess that was made..let's just say, you are glad you're not a part of it.

This was her dads solution to the problem. He not only thought he was hilarious, but really honestly thought maybe, just MAYBE if he pulled them up high enough and tucked her shirt in, it would fix it.

Don't you love a man's solution? So simple.

Any advice dear friends? It's mind boggling really, how one sweet, beautiful, down-to-earth, fun loving, innocent little thing could cause so much damage. She is such a little spit fire..

I'm told she gets it from her mommy.

On another note-here are some really ugly pictures of all of us at the park the other day. I promise, we get ready (but only sometimes) and actually do our hair, occasionally put on make up, wear normal clothes...

but not on this day, which is sort of why it's amazing.

Ellie loves her princess Belle. Notice her holding it in several of the pictures. She wraps her up in a blankie several times a day and gives her a pat on the back and says "ooohhhhhh beebee" in the cutest face you have ever laid eyes on. She squints her twinkly little blueberry eyes and puckers her lips and pats that baby like no one's business. We're all up in arms around here over her. She definitely keeps things exciting.

We spent a night at the ER over the weekend because Ellie dislocated her arm. Yep. My fault. Worst mom ever. I picked her up by her wrist while we were shopping in Home Goods and heard a big pop...

her arm was a dead fish after that.

Of course, I was bawling. Like someone had died I was bawling. Abusive mom, check.

We took her in and the doctor had to pop it back in place...murder me sideways. I was beside myself.

ELLIE on the other hand, was ripe and ready to go! Giggles and smiles and dora stickers she refused to sleep without that night, climbing on the playhouse in the office on the way out, waving to the nurses and saying "Hi! me hurt" while point to her elbow where the arm popped out.

my life. this is it. it's real. It's mine.

I take full ownership.

And she...

Well she just makes it all worth while.

Great stories Tiff! I'm so sorry to hear about Ellie's arm but am so glad that she was such a good sport about it :) I pull Daci up by her wrist all the time too....maybe I should stop :) The poop situation is HILARIOUS and I couldn't stop laughing. Sorry...probably not so funny to you and if it were my child it probably wouldn't be as funny either. Thanks for sharing though! She is adorable!

Ha, okay I'm not laughing, this is serious. I don't think I have any good advice except to tell her NO. At her age it's kinda hard. London did go through a stage once(she did it about five times) where she took off her diaper cause she...well you know... and she carefully waited till I came in. She just didn't want it touching her cute bottom. Then one night I came in to find her without a diaper on. It scared Ty and I. When asked she responded 'it's not cozy.' But look on the bright side she's as cute as can possibly be and it will pass

Hello, cute Tiffany! Kori just sent me the link to this post because she was laughing so hard she thought that I needed a giggle too. Sorry it's at your expense! :). My solution: 1 piece jammies and overalls. There you go! :)

Oh my! Well, I have to tell you that I was laughing the whole time I read your story. I have no advice but loved the story of your cute girl. Kids go through all sorts of phases; I hope this one ends soon for your sake. I enjoy reading about your "real life" and seeing the beautiful pictures you take.

Oh no! I have no advice. The only solution I can kiiind of think of is ALWAYS keep a onesie on her, and the footed jammies that have the snap on top that hides the zipper. Then put a pad-lock on the zipper.
I am really sorry to hear about the elbow. My brother did that to his little boy when he was running across the stand at church. Grabbed him by the wrist and it dislocated his elbow. The best of parents do it. Good thing their joints and bones are so flexible and resilient right now.

Hi there! I have been following your blog and enjoy your photography. I was talking to a girlfriend the other day about this very same "situation." She said a friend of hers went through the same thing and came up with a pretty simple, yet effective solution... onsie jammies, on backwards. Apparently, they figure out pretty quick how to take of the one piece if its on properly, but can't quite seem to access the goods if its on backwards. My little guy is getting to a phase where nudity is his thing and I fear poop painting isn't far behind. He's already taken his diaper off by himself on a number of occasions, so I will more likely than not, be employing this tactic in the not too distant future. Good luck and hope this helps!

my niece does the whole pooping thing at 2. my hubs told her parents to duck tape a diaper on during naps and then maybe she would get over it sooner or later...

I've had a few friends deal with this and some possible solutions can be found on this BabyTalk forum:
http://www.babycenter.com/400_how-do-i-stop-my-toddler-from-playing-with-her-poop_500384_0.bc

The one that seems to work best is using cold water/shower to clean them up so they learn not to do it.

Good luck!

:) I LOVE THE WAY YOU WRITE!!!! It is so cute, and tells your story in such a cute way! anyway, no advice here :(. I have to force the onesie thing. I dry heave just changing diapers. I can't imagine what you do, as you clean it up :) GOOD LUCK!

oh tiff! one of my twins kylee did this! and it is not fun! and it was every single day when she pooped she played! especially since it was always first thing in the morning before i could get to her or nap time. and if she had a onsie on she just left the diaper on cuase she couldnt get it off and pulled it all out anyway! so really the only thing i could do was put her in footsie pj's. but in all reality she was just ready to be potty trained. I dont remember how old ellie is but kylee is fully potty trained and is 23 months. and she may not be ready or you may not be either. but our only solution was footsie pj's! I hope it gets better cause it is no fun!

She DOES have an irrestible hiney!

Here is my poop story to brighten your day:

Today Rose woke up with an explosion, poop all over the crib, it was the awesome yellow, watery, teething poop, everything except the whole grapes that came out. She was munching on those for a little good morning snack! Love you :)

I don't know if anyone has recommended this yet, but my friend was having a problem with her little girl taking off her diaper and peeing all over the place, both are bad in my opinion...anyway, so she bought the one-piece pajamas without the feet and put them on backwards! Who would have thought? Yeah, so the zipper is like a dress, and I bet there are even some out there that have a button-flap that covers the zipper. So there you have it, at least a solution for night and nap time! Kind of a pain to put her in pj's for naps, but HOlland still has to wear her pj's for her nap.
